Banana Chips

Looking for another healthy snack option?  I know I always am.  I love snacks that taste great but are also good for my family.  I always tend to have extra bananas sitting on my counter, so what to do, what to do?  Well, banana chips are a great idea.  Giving any food a new “look” makes anyone want to give it a try.

Caramelized Pear Streusel Bread

Mmmmm….I could introduce this recipe with nothing else. It says it all.  This bread is delicious and really not at all difficult to make.  Caramelized pears inside the bread with a streusel topping is just what can turn an ordinary day into something better.  This bread is great for gift giving.  It makes three mini loaves, so why not share it with some else?

Caramelized Pear Streusel Bread

Ingredients:

Pears
1 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 cups peeled and diced pears
1 Tbsp brown sugar

Batter
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Fresh Apple Cake with Browned Butter Frosting

 

The weather is getting cooler, the leaves beginning to change . . . fall brings the wonderful flavors of pumpkin, squash and fresh apples.  This cake celebrates that flavor with layers of a fresh apples and harvest spices.  The browned butter frosting takes it completely over the top- your friends and family will love this.  If you can, make it the day before you serve it so it will be even more moist and delicious!

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

It’s that time of year when all we dream of pumpkins, apples, ghosts and witches.  It’s also that time of year when we can use a few healthy snack options.  This smoothie gives the flavors of pumpkin pie but with far fewer calories.  It’s a great way to celebrate the season without stretching the waistline.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 banana
6 ice cubes
1 cup almond milk
3/4 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup oats
1-2 tsp maple syrup
dash of pumpkin pie spice
whipped cream – topping (optional)
dash of cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

Place all ingredients except whipped cream
