Fudge Cake

1 cup  butter
4 (1-oz.) squares semisweet baking chocolate, finely chopped
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
Dash of  salt
1 cup chopped toasted pecans*

Smothered Pork Chops

It’s unusually cold here in Texas, and even more so in the rest of the country.  These smothered pork chops are a southern classic and will warm you up and fill you up on a cold winter’s night.  Seasoned pan-fried pork chops with a simple but flavorful onion gravy served with mashed potatoes – this is comfort food at it’s best!

Smothered Pork Chops


4 bone-in pork chops, about 1 inch think
fresh ground salt and pepper
1 cup flour
2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/8 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable

Mint Oreo Brownies (easy)

It’s that time of year to enjoy the magic and flavors of Christmas.  I’ve always been a fan of mint brownies.  This quickie Mint Oreo Brownie recipe isn’t quite the same, but it does still combine the great flavors of chocolate and mint and is so simple to make-something we can always appreciate when we need another batch of treats to take or a fun goodie to share with friends.

All you need is two ingredients-brownie mix and these great special edition Oreos.  You can use the Peppermint (red filling) or the Mint (green filling) for these fun Christmas Brownies!

Cranberry-Orange Honey Butter
