The past couple of months have been tough ones for Jocelyn and I.  Just a few short weeks ago, we said goodbye to our adorable, not-quite 2 year old  nephew/cousin Duncan.  This past Easter weekend, we also said goodbye to our mom and grandma.  It only seems fitting that today we should dedicate this post to her- especially since that is where we first acquired our love of cooking and good food.

Since it is the season for Pie, I thought I’d share another favorite of my mom’s pie recipes.  This Sour Cream Dutch Apple Pie is a wonderful pie to add to your Holiday Dinners.   The sour cream gives it a rich creamy filling and the butter-brown sugar crumb topping makes it absolutely perfect!

Seriously – this is love at first bite!  So what is your favorite holiday pie?  I’m not sure I could pick just one!

Sour Cream Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients

1 unbaked 9 inch pie crust
6 cups peeled and sliced apples
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Since tomorrow is Pi Day  (3.14) or at our house Pie Day, we thought we’d round up a few irresistible pies to help you celebrate.  Having a hard time deciding which to choose?  May we suggest a Pie Day Party complete with an irresistible Pie Bar . . .  this celebration is sounding better and better!

By the way, did you realize that Pi Day this year is a once-in-a-century numerical phenomena: the date falls in sequential order of the first five digits of pi: 3/14/15.  All the more reason to celebrate!

Last week on Facebook I showed you some beautiful rhubarb I was so excited about.  I wasn't positive what I wanted to do with it, but I knew it needed to be wonderful because I was so tempted to make my favorite Rhubarb Custard Pie instead of trying something new.

I decided to go to my mom's recipe boxes because I knew she loved rhubarb as much as me.  Sure enough I found a wonderful recipe I had never had before.  I tweaked it a little and came up with this Rhubarb Cheesecake Pie; a delicious combination of two favorites-
