Teriyaki Sweet Onion Sliders
It’s almost Memorial Day Weekend- you know what that means . . . Time to get Fired-Up about Firing-Up the Grill!
We tried out these Teriyaki Sweet Onion Sliders and they were a big hit -{so much so that I didn’t have a chance to click some good pictures before they were gone!} Usually my family knows the routine and are pretty patient about waiting for me to take pictures before they eat . . . not this day – these little gems disappeared in a flash.
We started things off by adding sweet onions and teriyaki to the burgers for lots of wonderful flavor. Next, we topped it off with a sweet Teriyaki Sauce, and finally added fresh grilled pineapple. We served them up on those yummy little Hawaiian Sweet Rolls – now do you understand why they didn’t last long?
Be sure to grab two before they are gone! Are you grilling for Memorial Day? What’s on your menu?
Teriyaki Sweet Onion Sliders
Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
1/2 large sweet onion, grated
2 tablespoons teriyaki marinade
salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
6 slices fresh pineapple slices
1 package (12) Hawaiian sweet rolls
For the Teriyaki Sauce
1/2 cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoons teriyaki marinade
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions
To make Teriyaki Sauce: Combine the pineapple juice, marinade, and brown sugar in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer 10 -15 minutes or until slightly thick. Remove from heat and set aside.
To make the Sliders: Combine the ground beef, grated onion, and marinade with salt and pepper to taste. Form into 12 small sliders. Grill your sliders and about the time you flip them over add the pineapple to the grill. Cook the pineapple about 2-3 minutes on each side or until heated and grill marks appear. When the sliders are done, brush each side generously with Teriyaki Sauce and remove from heat. Serve on Hawaiian Sweet Rolls with 1/2 of pineapple slice. Add lettuce and your favorite toppings. Makes 12 sliders
