Caramelized Jalapeno Burger with Pepper Jack Cheese
Looking for a great way to spice up your dinner? You found it! I think my son Bryce has an iron stomach – you just can’t get food too hot for him. He loves this caramelized jalapeno burger – this is his recipe. {Love to tell you it’s my recipe, but true confession – this burger is just too hot for me to handle!} I know some of you love those jalapenos just like he does – so this one is for you!
Bryce will cook a couple hamburgers on our Breville Panini Press (or outside on the grill) and top them off with pepper jack cheese and caramelized jalapenos. When he makes these caramelized onions and jalapenos they smell sooo good that finally I had to try them for myself. The flavor is amazing – it’s the after burn that gets you {watch out}. If you want a milder version, just add one seeded jalapeno to the onions instead of three. {I know, what a wimp! My son tells me that defeats the whole purpose of the burger, but for us jalapeno lightweights, it’s a good alternative in my opinion!}
Grilled Jalapeno Burger with Pepper Jack Cheese
2 hamburger patties
2 slices pepperjack cheese
2 hamburger buns
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 onion, sliced
2-3 jalapenos, sliced with seeds
fresh ground black pepper to taste
In a small sauce pan over medium to medium-low heat, melt butter and add onions and jalepeno slices. Cook about 5 minutes and then add brown sugar. Continue to cook until onions and jalapenos caramelize (onions turn translucent). Add fresh-ground black pepper.
While the jalapenos are caramelizing, cook your hamburger patties in your usual way – grill, fry or use a Breville Panini Press and top with pepper jack cheese. Toast your hamburger buns. Spoon jalapeno/onion mix over cooked hamburgers. Add your favorite condiments and have lots of soda on hand! 😉
