Marshmallow Cream Frosting
Pin It
I make a lot of cupcakes. I am often bringing them to various events and activities, so we make them frequently. And sometimes I need a change. I get tired of the same frosting in various colors. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against buttercream frosting, but change is good. And I still use buttercream frosting often, but this Marshmallow Cream Frosting is really good.
I know that Marshmallow Creme isn’t highly favored by many, but it really works for this recipe. I am not much of a frosting person anyway to be completely honest. I will eat it but I do prefer the cake. Except this one, I seriously eat this frosting with a spoon. It is that good!! It has a subtle marshmallow flavor; just the right amount. It is sweet, but not over the top.
It has the same texture and consistency as buttercream frosting, so you can use it just the same. So, go ahead and step out of the buttercream box and try this next time. {Trust me on this one, you can change things up a little every now and then. ;)}
Marshmallow Cream Frosting
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 (7 ounce) container marshmallow Creme
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon milk
2 cups powdered sugar
Directions:
Cream together butter and marshmallow fluff until smooth. Add in vanilla and milk, mix until incorporated. {If you want to color the frosting add a little food coloring before the powdered sugar.} Add powdered sugar and mix well. You many need to add a little more milk or powdered sugar to get the desired consistency.
*Makes 2 cups of frosting.
I’ll be doing a little baking this weekend and will try this frosting. I’m a buttercreme addict, so I’m excited to see how this recipe compares. Thanks so much!
AWESOME! I have two containers of marshmallow cream and I had no idea what to do with it! So gonna give this a try! Thank you for sharing! Just posted some cakes and cupcakes on my blog today so I was searching for ideas and found yours on TipJunkie. 🙂
Love this! We have our Kitchen Fun and Crafty Friday Link Party going on now and would love for you to share this! http://kitchenfunwithmy3sons.blogspot.com/2012/02/kitchen-fun-and-crafty-friday-link_16.html
How does it hold up compared to the buttercream?
Sounds interesting…suppose the colouring is added at the same time as the vanilla?
I’m an icing fan and loves this version!
Hi I live in Australia and I am not sure what I can use in place of marshmallow creme. Can someone please help? I do have a store here but it’s an hours drive and I have heard it’s very expensive. They only stock USA products. Thank you
