Amish Sugar Cookies

Amish Sugar Cookies

If you are wondering what an Amish Sugar Cookie is, just know this – It is a light and soft buttery sugar cookie that is simply amazing. It is a good thing this recipe will make a lot of cookies, because they are going to be eaten as quickly as they come out of the oven.  If you were feeling a little festive you could add a few sprinkles to the tops of the cookies before baking, but I promise they are perfect the way they are.

Amish Sugar Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tarter

Preheat oven to 375 .

In a large bowl, beat the butter, oil, sugar and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla until well blended. Combine the flour, baking soda and cream of tarter; gradually add to the creamed mixture.

Drop by tablespoons unto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
