Summer Fun

Technically we still have today and tomorrow to finish out school, but we are in summer mode already.  We had a blast camping over the weekend and doing some hiking.  Here are a few of the highlights:

We are planning our summer and let me tell you, it is filling up quickly.  This year, we thought we would try something new.  We have a summer bucket list this year.  We haven’t finalized our list, but we are bouncing ideas off each other and adding to it frequently.  We have two more days, because once school is out the list is official.  Summer can be a long couple of months if there are not planned activities to do to fill the time.  A few of our ideas include:

  • having a water balloon fight
  • going down the neighborhood water slide over 100 times this summer
  • playing tennis
  • going to the movies
  • building a bike wash
  • hiking
  • camping
  • S’mores in the backyard
  • family bike rides
  • staying up to look at the stars
  • completing a family service project
  • reading a certain number of books (depending on the age of the child)
  • staying at the pool from opening to closing one day this summer (my kids set this goal every year, and we have yet to make it)
  • of course our list includes making up lots of yummy recipes to share with all of you 😉

Here are a couple of ideas that I have seen on pinterest that look like fun ideas to do as well.

Excavating dinosaurs from ice

Marshmallow shooter

Our list is really starting to look like a lot of fun.  What are your summer plans this year?  Do you have any great ideas or traditions to share, I would love to hear them.  I always need new ideas to keep my little ones occupied.
