Pasta with a Tomato Cream Sauce

Looking for an easy weeknight dinner. This pasta dish is so easy to come together and it goes great with chicken. We like to throw a couple of chicken breasts out on the grill with a little seasoning and viola-dinner is served! It is really a family favorite.

The sauce is rich and creamy and full of flavor. I like to use dried parsley and basil, because those are staples in my pantry. But if you have fresh herbs on hand go ahead and throw those in instead.

Pasta with a Tomato Cream Sauce

Ingredients:

1/2 pound pasta
1 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup chicken broth
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 to 1 tsp salt & pepper (to taste)
1 tablespoon parsley
1 tsp. basil

Directions:

Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in the skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until garlic is tender.   Add the chicken broth and tomato sauce to the pan. Bring to a boil and allow to simmer until slightly thickened.  Add the heavy cream and stir well to combine.  Add the parsley and basil.  Season with salt and pepper to taste. Turn heat to low.  Drain pasta and add to sauce. Stir well to coat. Serve.  (Goes great with grilled chicken.)
