Turtle Bars

Need a sweet treat to feed a crowd?  These couldn’t really get any easier and they are so good.  Let the kids get in one this one.  What kid doesn’t love to hit a bag of cookies with a rolling pin.  I know mine love it.  Or get out your own frustrations of the day and crush the cookies yourself.  Kids also love to sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans and there is no right or wrong way to do it, so let the kids help.   I love using the Nilla Wafers as the crust.  It is unexpected.  It is a nice change from a traditional graham cracker crust.  They are so simple, yet they are highly addictivie.

Turtle Bars

Ingredients:

1 pkg (12 oz) Nilla Wafers
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 10 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 (12.5 oz) jar caramel topping

Directions:

Place Nilla Wafers in large heavy-duty zip top plastic bag; crush with a rolling pin to fine crumbs.

Stir together the Nilla Wafers and butter, press into 9×13 pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans. Drizzle caramel topping all over the top.

Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack. Chill 30 minutes. Cut into squares.
