Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots
So often when making dinner all the thought and effort goes into the main dish. The sides can often be a last-minute thing. These carrots however, are simple but make more of a statement than just simply serving carrots.
I have found, at my grocery store, bags of baby carrots that can be steamed in the microwave. This makes my life even easier. If you can’t find this variety, no worries. Simply steam your carrots on the stove.
What can these carrots be paired with you ask. Well, I love to serve Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots with our Chicken and Rice Bake or our Chicken Cordon Bleu. These carrots also will pair really well with a nice ham dinner {thinking Easter, here ;)} Really serve them along side anything you like.
Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots
Ingredients:
12 ounce bag of baby carrots
1-2 Tbls. butter (the real stuff)
2-3 Tbls. brown sugar
black pepper, for taste
Directions:
Steam carrots. {Use your preferred method of steaming-on the stove top or microwave. This is complete personal preference here.}
While carrots are steaming place butter into serving bowl. Once carrots are cooked, drain well. Add carrots to the bowl and stir to melt the butter. Add brown sugar and stir until the butter and sugar form a coating on the carrots. {I start with 1 Tbls. butter and 2 Tbls. brown sugar. You can always add more for your preference, I usually do add a little more.} Stir in a dash of black pepper and serve immediately.
