Candy Cupcake Toppers

A while back I posted these All-Star Cupcakes with the intention to later post on the candy topper. Well, nearly 6 months and many requests later here it is. These little candy toppers really add a “Wow” factor to your cupcakes, and they are completely edible which my kids love!
The best part is they are so simple to make. Use any silicone baking mold. {Just please make sure they are oven safe and not just an ice-cube mold. The ice cube ones, although they look like a baking mold, will melt in the oven. I know this from personal experience. ;)} I have found them at various places. Hobby Lobby usually has some for the upcoming holiday. I found these heart ones in the dollar spot at Target.

Candy Cupcake Topper
Hard Candy such as Jolly Ranchers or Life Savers in the desired color. The number of candies depends on the number of toppers you are making and the size of your mold.
Preheat oven to 350. Place unwrapped candies in a ziploc bag {the freezer bags work best-they are thicker}. I like to use my rolling pin to crush the candies. You want them to be crushed almost to powder {some of it will be powder anyway}. Now using a silicone mold {make sure it is oven safe} put a layer of candy in the bottom of the mold. Do not completely fill, but make sure the bottom is completely covered. Place molds on a baking tray before placing in the oven. These do not take long, be sure to watch them. Most of mine are done in about 5-7 minutes depending on the size. Once the candy is completely melted remove from the oven. Let the candy cool completely in the mold before trying to remove. {Make a few extra because some of them will break.}
Love this idea.
